How to narrow an oversized ring?
Homemade tips to narrow an oversized ring by yourself
You’ve just been given a ring, you love it but unfortunately, it’s too large for your finger. The idea of not being able to wear this jewel breaks your heart. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you and provide you with the best solutions, so you can wear your ring as long as you shall live. Looking for a way to narrow a silver, steel, gold or gold-plated ring without ruining it? We’re going to present you several techniques. Choose the one that suits you best.
The glue technique to narrow an oversized ring
For this tip, you need your ring, transparent lacquer and some glue. First, protect your ring by coating it by a layer of transparent lacquer on the inside. Wait until the lacquer is dry, and when it is, measure the excess size of your ring (in milimeters). Then, apply glue on the inside bottom of the jewel (use a glue gun to be more precise). When the glue is partially dry, model it with your finger, so you won’t see it when you wear your ring. Once it’s done and the glue is completely dry, you can finally try on your ring and see if it fits you perfectly.
The silicon technique
The silicon technique is almost the same as the one we’ve just dealt with, we just exchange the glue for silicon sealant. When you choose the silicon, take some for food or aquarium use. First, start by cleaning your ring to dust it off. Then, take a little of silicon with a stirrer and just like for the glue, apply it on the inside. Then, spread it, so it won’t disturb you, and wait from 24 to 48 hours before wearing your ring.
The use of a narrower to adjust a ring to your finger
This technique is a homemade trick. It’s not difficult at all because all you need is a plastic clip. Place it on the inside of your ring, between your jewel and your finger. You can remove it whenever you want. This trick is not expensive since a set of clips costs less than 10 euros. By doing so, you’ll manage to narrow the size of your ring without damaging it.
Wearing your ring differently
Wearing two rings on top of each other
The superposition technique is very similar to the previous one, byt here, you don’t need to buy a clip. If you already wear a fine ring on your finger, you can put on the oversized one on top of it, so it stands still and doesn’t fall. It’s perfect if you want to wear your engagement ring with your wedding ring, all the more this trick is very trendy currently.
Reusing your ring
If your ring is definitely too large and if you don’t want to alter it, you can wear it around your neck as a pendant by setting it on a chain. This way, the ring won’t lose its monetary value, especially if it’s family ring, and you can keep it close to your heart.
Having a ring narrowed by a jeweler
